Welcome to The Goat, a true St Albans local and a favourite gathering place for good company, great beer and familiar faces. Drop in any day for a warm atmosphere and a newspaper by the bar, or join one of our weekly happenings including board games on Mondays, dominos on Tuesdays and Thursdays, musicians on Wednesdays, and events every Friday and Saturday. The first Saturday of the month is band night, the last Saturday is soul night, and Sundays are reserved for our much-loved quiz hosted by Colin.


We take pride in serving rotating guest real ales on hand pump, offering you a chance to enjoy exceptional brews from across the country. We're also dog friendly — Elvis the pub dog will be the first to welcome you.


Whether you're planning a wake, birthday or private celebration, The Goat offers spaces for 30, 60 or up to 100 guests, with bespoke buffet menus available on request. With Sky, TNT and terrestrial TV showing major sport, The Goat remains at the heart of the community — a pub to relax, connect and enjoy time well spent.

Choose from much-loved classics including beer-battered fish and chips, steak and ale pie, sausage and mash, burgers and lighter plates made for sharing. We also offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices, a children’s menu for smaller appetites, and comforting homemade desserts when there is still a little room left.

On Sundays, gather around the table for a proper roast with crisp roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy. Choose from beef, pork, chicken, our trio of meats or a hearty vegan roast.
